Alison Waldman is an “entrepren-artist” performer, teacher, and creative consultant in the DMV who uses her powers for good. This is her sixth year and 10th evening-length production with Contradiction Dance. Her dance training includes the Suzanne Dellal Center (Tel Aviv, Israel), the American Dance Festival, and ProDanza Italia (Castiglioncello, Italy), and Denison University, from where she holds a BA in Communications and Dance. She is a Resident Movement Artist with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Arts & Humanities Program, a certified workplace wellness instructor with Now Next Body, and is training with Mark Morris’ Dance for PD Program and Columbia University’s Narrative Medicine Beta Course.
Also has also recently appeared locally with Jane Franklin Dance, K.G. Dance, merrygogo and at the Source Festival as an Artistic Blind Date Collaborator, Capital Fringe, the Kennedy Center, Anacostia Arts Center, and Dance Place.
When she is not in the studio or on the stage, Alison serves as a communications specialist for non-profit and arts-based organizations in the DC metro area as Marketing & Communications Manager at Dance Exchange, a strategy specialist with the national advocacy platform SparkAction, and a freelance photographer and graphic designer. She also co-hosts the public visual and performance improv jam Duet Roulette with ReCreative Spaces.
