Regarding Stories in Motion:
Dance • Drama • Visual Art
Get your kids IN MOTION at Takoma Park’s Contradiction Dance studio. Our “Stories in Motion” curriculum blends creative writing, drama, story-telling, visual arts, costume making and dance education.
The Stories in Motion curriculum was originally created for Montgomery County’s S.A.I.L. Program by Story Tapestries founder, Arianna Ross and Contradiction Dance’s founder, Kelly Mayfield. We are pleased to bring it to you!
1. What does my Stories in Motion student need to bring? Water, snack, over-sized t-shirt for paint activities. Our food policy: Children may not share food with each other. We will not provide food/feed any child – it’s too dangerous.
2. What is the student/teacher ratio? 8:1 ratio – above that we bring in an assistant. Usually an older student/sibling who wants experience.
3. Are there usually boys? YES! Boy energy is fabulous for a dance class!
4. Do you have people who are experienced working with this age group? Our teachers are very experienced. They teach residencies in the school systems on a regular basis and have a working understanding of classroom management principles for children this age.
