Repertory
Perspective/shift: An Exchange Between Life & Dance
A ninety-minute program first performed in June 2007; Perspective/shift combines a cast of 10 performers including hip-hop, tap, jazz, and modern specialists and one storyteller. A foray into collaboration across genres, Artistic Director Kelly Mayfield invites you into her private moments and life experiences.
Objects of Hope: The America Project
Reclaiming Personal Patriotism One Performance at a Time
A twenty-five minute suite exercising our freedom to question, to protest, and to demand answers. Poetry, prose, paint, and purpose combine with dance in a moving dialogue on hope, deportation, apathy, homelessness, the flag, responsibility and pride.
Objects of Hope: Washington D.C.
Movement, Music, Poetry & Visual Art: Experience Hope in the Nation’s Capital
Historical events from 1968-2008 guide and frame the work. As our present state of being is a result of past experiences, the past becomes storyteller and guide through a journey about the complex relationships between the many people who call Washington D.C. home.
In August 2007 Contradiction Dance began Objects of Hope. This on-going project examines our personal objects of hope, both literal and figurative, through movement, music, poetry and visual art.
